On Feb. 18th, Justice High School Choral Ensembles held its annual Broadway Desserts production, featuring songs from top musicals such as Hamilton, Grease, Dear Evan Hansen, and more. Guests sat down to hear hit show tunes, joined by an intermission filled with tasty treats.
The first act contained 11 songs, with solos, duets, and group performances. “My favorite part was the duet ‘Fine’ from Ordinary Days,” said junior Miles Stadler. “It was very entertaining and I think [the performers] played their parts extremely well.” The act was brought to a close by Glasgow Middle School Choral Ensembles’ performance of “Happiness” from You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. At the later show, however, Glasgow sang “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen.
At intermission, the main hallway was packed with tables full of cookies, brownies, and cupcakes for guests to grab. “There is no real connection between the Broadway songs and desserts, the desserts are mainly for fun. It gives the audience a treat for coming,” said senior performer Hailey Salazar.
The second act began with a cheery attitude, as the Chamber class sang “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” from the Christmas musical Elf. Prior to the closing performance, the senior members of Justice’s Choral Ensembles performed “For Good” from Wicked.
If interested in seeing the Justice choir perform again, catch them at the Spring Concert, which will be held on May 25th at 7pm in the Justice auditorium.
