SIX FLAGS AMERICA CLOSING!

Six Flags, a staple amuse­ment park here in the DMV and nation-wide,  has unfor­tu­nately announced the closure of their Mary­land loca­tion; the park will be clos­ing after this summer season begin­ning on Novem­ber 2^nd, 2025. Being one of the only two major amuse­ment parks in the DMV area, the era of Six Flags Amer­ica (located in Mary­land) comes to an end. 

Six Flags is home to one of the tallest rides in Amer­ica. People are very fond of them because of how each ride relates to either a villain or super­hero. They also have cities that are specif­i­cally cate­go­rized based on the person­al­ity of the character.

Richard Zimmar­man, CEO of Six flags Amer­ica said, “As part of our compre­hen­sive review of our park port­fo­lio, we have deter­mined that Six Flags Amer­ica and Hurri­cane Harbor are not a strate­gic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan.”

This confirms that the deci­sion has been made long before it was announced to the public. Six Flags plans on expand­ing its busi­ness and the Mary­land loca­tion simply doesn’t fit into what they are build­ing up the amuse­ment park to be in the near future. 

 Though many will be sad about this devas­tat­ing news, we can always look at the brighter side—we have a summer season to enjoy the fun wait­ing for us at Six flags before it closes!
