SIX FLAGS AMERICA CLOSING!
Six Flags, a staple amusement park here in the DMV and nation-wide, has unfortunately announced the closure of their Maryland location; the park will be closing after this summer season beginning on November 2nd, 2025. Being one of the only two major amusement parks in the DMV area, the era of Six Flags America (located in Maryland) comes to an end.
Six Flags is home to one of the tallest rides in America. People are very fond of them because of how each ride relates to either a villain or superhero. They also have cities that are specifically categorized based on the personality of the character.
Richard Zimmarman, CEO of Six flags America said, “As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan.”
This confirms that the decision has been made long before it was announced to the public. Six Flags plans on expanding its business and the Maryland location simply doesn’t fit into what they are building up the amusement park to be in the near future.
Though many will be sad about this devastating news, we can always look at the brighter side—we have a summer season to enjoy the fun waiting for us at Six flags before it closes!
