Gregory Stowers is Justice High School’s new Theater Teacher. Stowers is an extrovert, kind, and outgoing. He encourages being brave and empathetic. Stowers has been teaching for 7 years, he recently came from Catherine Johnson Middle School in Fairfax. He did Musicals during the summer at West field High School for 4 summers in a row. He taught for 4 years in Williamsburg. After teaching middle schoolers for most of his teaching career he decided to move up to high schooler’s. He states “ I know high school students are way more mature, you’re able to do more fun stuff, we’re doing more shows we can get way more involved, big flashy productions”, which is what made him come here to Justice High School. Many flashy and big productions are coming to Justice High School!
Before teaching Stowers went to James Madison University (JMU), where he studied Musical Theater. After Graduation, he toured the world as a professional actor. When asked about his life touring he responded, “ I did a whole bunch of shows across the country which was so much fun but you get tired of the road eventually.” He lived in New York for some time before coming to Virginia. He decided it was time to settle down at one spot for the time being. During his childhood Stowers has always been interested in Musical Theater, He took Theater, Chorus, and dance throughout middle school and High school. He discusses his past in theater, “Some of my favorite memories are being in theater class in high school and also like being in those productions.” He had such a passion he attended a theater camp during the summers.
Stowers has always had a love for musical theater, as one of the qualities that he says you get from Theater is empathy. Learning to empathize with your character. As added with learning about your character and stepping into their world you’re learning what it’s like to be someone else and feel like another person. He says “I think theater taught me the importance of being organized and maintaining a schedule” And speaking of a schedule! His next act here at Justice is “Almost, Main” coming spring of 2025!
